As the holidays approach, NYC transforms into a glittering light-filled extravaganza with markets and festive celebrations. Usually the food at these holiday markets isn’t kosher-friendly but, this, year we’re in luck: Viva La Dough, a French kosher pastry shop, has set up a pop-up inside the annual Macy’s Herald Square Holiday Market running now through January 3, 2026. They’re serving up a wide array of baked goodies, including the wildly inventive croissant pizzas, the perfect subject for your next Instagram post.
The concept is simple: croissant dough serves as the base for all sorts of pizza pies. According to Yeah That’s Kosher, menu options include margherita with basil, eggplant and peppers, pesto broccoli, cheese with truffle oil, vodka sauce pasta, mushroom with roasted garlic and truffle oil plus rotating special pies.
Prices are reasonable, too: around $9 for a half-pie and $13 for a whole one.
Find croissant pizza akin to culinary blasphemy? No problem. The stall also offers almond croissants, sticky buns and the bakery’s signature croffle, a croissant-waffle hybrid that can be topped with chocolate, marshmallow, powdered sugar, whipped cream, strawberry jam or apricot jam, for about $5 a pop.
After all, there’s nothing quite like walking through one of Manhattan’s holiday markets with a treat in hand, perhaps shopping for your next great Hanukkah gift.
