Jewish comedian Alex Edelman is set to take the Carnegie Hall stage on Saturday, November 15 at 6pm as part of the New York Comedy Festival, the longest-running annual festival of its kind in the United States. Edelman will be performing his new show What Are You Going to Do, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed stand-up special Just for Us, which he performed on Broadway before it premiered as an HBO original in April of last year—a production that earned him both an Emmy and a Tony.

Edelman’s brand of comedy—smart, fast and personal—certainly lends itself to a live audience setting, making his upcoming Carnegie Hall appearance a pretty exciting move. Add to it the fact that he usually muses on his own experience as an Orthodox Jew in secular spaces and you’ve got yourself a relatable, fall must-see in New York.

As for the festival at large, this year’s lineup, which you can browse in full here, features other comedy greats, including Margaret Cho, who will perform at Town Hall also on November 15; Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris, who will take the stage as part of a Strangers with Candy reunion; Chris Fleming and Hannah Berner, among others.

Back to Edelman: if you can’t make it to his New York Comedy Festival appearance, worry not. The 36-year-old comedian is set to star in The Paper, The Office spinoff premiering on Peacock on September 4, and is currently developing a movie that he will write, direct and star in.
