Siete is a new kosher Mexican restaurant set to officially open in the Flatiron District on March 12 at 37 West 19th Street near Sixth Avenue.
The brainchild of City Roots Hospitality and Chef Guy Vaknin—of Beyond Sushi, Coletta and Anixi fame—Siete will be an entirely vegan and kosher certified eatery celebrating “the rich culture and cuisine of the [Mexican] region, expertly blending tradition and originality,” according to an official press release.
The menu, which you can browse in full right here, includes fried appetizers like the smashed guacamole, tuna ceviche and a beet carpaccio, hot entrees that run the gamut from beef taquitos to quesadillas, empanadas and a tostada trio, plus a variety of other dishes that completely redefine the vegan experience.
Perhaps most exciting, though, is the drink menu, which highlights the sorts of spirits not usually seen at kosher establishments around town, think premium tequilas and mezcals. Diners will get to taste the liquors on their own or as part of the various cocktails that will also be on offer at the location.
As for the look of the space, expect a pretty slick destination whose center piece is a custom hand-painted mural by New York City-based artist Christopher Rios right at the entrance.
Given the relative success of Vaknin’s other culinary ventures and New Yorkers’ much-chronicled interest in all things vegan, we suspect Siete to draw in potential fans as early as its opening week.
