Learn how to make a kosher Cronut at this French baking class in Brooklyn

Maison Valero in Brooklyn is clearly in tune with viral baking trends and seems to have set out to kosherize many of them. Back in March, for example, the French kosher bakery at 501 Avenue M in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood, started serving its take on the viral crookie.

Other visually striking, deliciously tasting and very much on-trend dessert options followed, but Maison Valero is also dedicated to teaching the masses how to prepare these globally recognized pastries on their own.

Every Sunday, in fact, the business hosts baking classes focusing on different French pastries like tarte au citron (lemon tart), pain suisse (think of it as a filled croissant of sorts) and the iconic Cronut, French pastry chef’s Dominique Ansel’s 2013 creation that is a cross between a croissant and a doughnut.

There are a number of Cronut baking classes on the schedule throughout December and, given the popularity of the baked good and the fact that the lessons make for ideal dates and outings with friends, we suggest booking your spot online ASAP. You can do so right here.

“The class will start with a live demonstration where our owner and chef will guide you through making the perfect cronut dough,” reads the official description of the class. “For convenience, pre-made dough will be provided so you can focus on filling your cronuts with indulgent chocolate or vanilla pastry cream and topping them with delicious icing.”

One more thing: given the proximity to Channukah, the prepared Cronuts will be given a proper holiday twist and all participants will get to leave with a box of five themed ones upon the completion of class. Talk about the perfect gift for your Channukah host.
