Noir, a beloved kosher bakery that has been operating in Great Neck, Long Island, a 30 minute car ride from midtown Manhattan, since 2018, has just announced its imminent expansion into the Upper West Side with plans to debut a new location at 2345 Broadway by 86th Street this upcoming July.
“It will be an Israeli bakery and cafe,” explains an official spokesperson, also revealing that the destination will be kosher certified under “most likely” Rabbi Mehlman of the National Kosher Supervision or VHQ. “We will serve coffee, an array of croissants and borekas, sandwiches, shakshuka, salads, cakes, desserts, babkas and more.”
If the menu at the original Noir address is of any indication, Manhattanites are in for a gastronomic Renaissance of sorts: the sabich sandwich, shakshuka and vast array of baked goods—both sweet and savory—are only some of the most outstanding items up for grabs.
A family-run operation that oozes dedication to the culinary craft and the flavors of Israel, Noir has always focused on both service and food—something that, unfortunately, not many other kosher eateries are wont to do.
That attention to detail is made even more apparent at the eponymous full-fledged restaurant next door to the bakery, which opened to much fanfare earlier this year.
At the Noir restaurant, waiters in uniform confidently share menu details while pouring pretty good wine in clean glasses: not a common sight within the kosher restaurant world.
Get ready for a dose of good ol’ Israeli baked goods, Upper West Side.
