Today might be the fast of Esther but Jews around town are likely prepping their best costumes to celebrate Purim this Saturday night, March 23.

Because it’s New York, there are countless parties to choose from—perhaps even requiring costume changes throughout the evening.

To simplify matters, we’ve come up with this handy little guide to the best Purim parties in NYC on March 23, based on what, exactly, you’re looking for.

If you’re single: Purim in the Shuk

Presented by Belev Echad, an international non-profit that works to restore wounded Israel Defense Force soldiers back to life, this young professionals Purim party kicks off at 10pm at 164 East 68th Street by Third Avenue. Expect a premium open bar, freshly made pizzas, a candy bar (whatever that means), a live DJ and, of course, megillah readings every hours starting at 9:30pm. Tickets right here

If you’ve got kids in tow: Temple Emanu-El Purim 2024

From 6 to 8:30pm, embrace all that Purim is about at the Mardi Gras masquerade Purim party at Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center at 10 East 66th Street by Madison Avenue. Free and open to the public, the event also pays homage to New Orleans culture, so expect a live jazz band and beignets to define the night just as much as the meghillah reading. Tickets right here

If you’re the Broadway type: Shushan! The Musical

The 92NY will be presenting Shushan! the Musical on Saturday at 7:30pm, a musical comedy about the holiday tha ttells the story of Puriim through original Broadway-like song. If you’re looking to rave: Shalvata NYC Purim Party

Attempting to recreate popular Tel Aviv club Shalvata in midtown Manhattan, Matzoball and JVibe are hosting this Purim party on Saturday might at 10pm at Harbor NYC Rooftop (621 West 46th Street by 12th Avenue). If you’re looking to honor the survivors and victims of October 7: We Shall Dance Again

Upper Esat Side Orthodoz congregation Altneu is honoring the survivors and victims of the October 7 Nova festival massacre during a special Purim event at Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College. Kicking off at 8:15pm at 695 Park Avenue by 68th Street, the evening includes a meghillah reading, , evening services and what is sure to be a beautiful concert from Alex Clare and Matt Dubb.
