Next Sunday, November 16, the free New York Jewish Book Festival will take over the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust at 36 Battery Place from 10am through 5:30pm.
Registration, which is free (although a $10 donation is suggested), is officially open right here.
We encourage you to browse through this year’s stacked lineup but we’d be remiss not to mention a few standout sessions that will definitely be worthy of your time, including a panel about “what it means to be a Jewish author writing Jewish stories,” featuring three debut fiction authors: Cary Gitter, Esther Levy Chehebar and Sam Sussman.
At 12:45, Michael Koresky and Julie Gilbert will be in conversation with film historian Foster Hirsch to dive into “the history of Jews in Hollywood and their contributions to the art of filmmaking” and 2pm a panel of three other Jewish writers will discuss reckoning with the Holocaust through fiction.
Conversations about Jewish love and romance in books will abound as well and the social media (and kitchen) sensation Jake Cohen, a New York Times bestselling author, will showcase some of his newest recipes.
Clearly, you’ll want to arrive at the museum bright and early to make the most of everything the festival has to offer. Remember: it’s essentially free and it is likely going to be freezing outside. Can you think of a better way to spend a fall Sunday in Manhattan?
