You can thank DansDeals for this one: following the site’s outreach to American Express complaining about the lack of fresh kosher food options at Amex Centurion Lounges around the country, the company is now piloting fresh kosher meals at two NYC airports, LaGuardia and JFK, as originally reported by YeahThatsKosher. According to the outlet, DansDeals connected American Express with Fresko, the same company that provides kosher meals on airlines.
At the Centurion Lounges in JFK (Terminal 4) and LaGuardia (Terminal B), guests can now indulge in egg-based dishes, French toast, chicken shawarma, grilled salmon and baked pasta options. There are also fresh desserts on offer, including apple tarts, chocolate cakes and lemon meringues. According to YeahThatsKosher, “menus may rotate, but the core upgrade is clear: these are prepared kosher meals intended to match the broader lounge dining experience.”
The revamped meals don’t change anything about who has access to the lounge, which remains limited to travelers with a Platinum Amex, Business Platinum, Corporate Platinum or Centurion card, as long as they present their eligible card alongside a boarding pass and ID within three hours of departure.
Although kosher meals, especially at crowded New York airports, are nothing new, being able to snag fresh food that actually matches the quality of the rest of the lounge offerings is a clear step up. Thank you, DansDeals.
