The people behind Matzoball created a Jewish dating app

The already crowded field of Jewish dating apps has recently welcomed a new creation by Andy Rudnick, the relatively famous founder of Jewish singles party series Matzoball.

Jewzz, as the app is called, obviously lives in the same space as JSwipe and JDate, but positions itself as a more premium service specifically focused on speed dating. According to reports, members can participate in virtual speed dates and video calls that do not require sharing phone numbers. Users can also look for potential matches in other cities and filter for a variety of different characteristics, including profession and height.

What’s more, members are actually vetted. When launching back in April, Rudnick told the Sun Sentinel that 10% of all new users are usually rejected.

“I want to leave something behind that provides value and purpose for the Jewish community,” Rudnick said to the outlet. “This is my calling, my legacy after 38 years.”

In an effort to expand its user pool, the app will host an after-work event with young Jewish professionals on Wednesday August 21 from 6pm to 9pm at Hotel Chantelle on Ludlow Street by Delancey Street on the Lower East Side. You can snag tickets for the event right here.

Are you sure to find your match at the happening? Probably not—but the single Jewish scene in New York clearly needs an infusion of excitement and Jewzz might provide it with just that. Even the app’s tagline will have you giggle: “Jewzz—where the chosen choose.”
