Romanian Kosher Sausage Company has been a fixture of Chicago’s Devon Avenue for decades. The butcher-turned-institution is where Chicago’s Jewish community has long gone for its hot dogs and the brand has built a following that stretches well beyond Illinois. Now, for the first time, the hot dogs making their way to the New York area.
A catering food truck called Didi’s Dogs by Romanian recently launched in New Jersey, available to book for private events and corporate gatherings across the broader New York metro area as well. According to Yeah That’s Kosher, the truck is owned and operated by family friends of the Bravermans, who run Romanian in Chicago, and functions as an official extension of the brand in this market. It was designed around a single concept: bringing Romanian’s hot dogs to New York events and making the experience of eating one feel interactive and memorable, not just transactional.
The setup is pretty straightforward and ideal for any sort of large event. There is a $1,500 flat fee for travel and setup, plus a minimum order of 100 hot dogs at $10 each, bringing the base cost to $2,500. That covers full service, setup and all toppings. Additional items from the Romanian menu are available beyond the minimum order, including deli sandwiches and fries served on top of sliced hot dogs.
The truck boasts a Kashrus Council of Lakewood certification, in addition to employing a mashgiach on-site and camera monitoring throughout.
Suddenly, we’re ready to host a party.
