Chickies has taken over Madison Square Garden’s kosher stand

Finally, you don’t have to calculate how much time you need for a kosher dinner before heading to Madison Square Garden: Chickies has taken over the arena’s kosher stand, so you can get your schnitzel sandwich once you’re inside and enjoy it while catching a show.

MSG confirmed the addition in its October 6 announcement of this season’s food lineup, placing Chickies on the sixth-floor concourse. The venue lists a menu extending beyond sandwiches to include salads and poke bowls, alongside familiar concession food such as hot dogs and knishes. Hurrah!

This is a change of operator at an existing kosher stand. According to YeahThatsKosher’s reporting, Chickies occupies the previous concession’s space near Section 111 and first served customers on September 22. Anyone who already knows where to find the kosher food should have a familiar destination, even if the order changes.

The prices make advance consideration worthwhile. The outlet reports that the Cap’n Munch Schnitzel Sandwich costs $25, as does the grilled chicken sandwich. Pastrami is $26, while a steak sandwich reaches $27. Those figures put the concession firmly in the category of dinner you should include when calculating the evening’s cost, especially if you’re buying for several people.

There is a less expensive route: the reported menu lists a beef hot dog at $10 and a potato knish at $12. Ordering both comes to $22, below the price of the sandwiches.

Chickies joins a wider concessions program that MSG says includes more than two dozen signature food and beverage concepts. Its arrival puts a named kosher operator within the same arena dining lineup that features businesses such as Carnegie Deli and Fuku, big non-kosher names.

Keep in mind, obviously, that the stand will not operate on Shabbat and Yom Tov. The practical appeal, though, remains straightforward: dinner can happen inside the building, with enough menu choices to warrant looking beyond your usual hot dog order.
