If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Eyal Shani’s kosher restaurant Malka, in Dumbo, knows how to throw a party. The restaurant regularly turns into an Israeli microcosm on Thursday nights, complete with a live DJ, dancing on tables and a family-style dinner concept that highlights a few of the eatery’s most popular Mediterranean dishes.

Next week, though, Malka is taking it all a step further: on Tuesday, April 21, Malka Dumbo will celebrate Yom Ha-Atzmaut with a Tel Aviv-themed party that is sure to be even more memorable than a usual Thursday night at the restaurant. It’s Israel’s 78th independence day, after all!

Kicking off at 8pm, the event is standing only: the $114 ticket (plus tax) will grant you entrance and a chance to mingle with fellow attendees while dancing to the live DJ’s tunes and noshing on the Israeli feast that will be served to all guests. Drinks will also be available, albeit a la carte. Basically, dinner at Malka next Tuesday will feel like an outing to an Israeli nightclub, plus some really solid schnitzel.

If you’re interested in booking a private table for the evening, you can reach out to dumbo@malka.nyc and ask about special pricing options.

And if you’re looking for a way to celebrate Yom Ha’Atzmaut that does not involve loud music or table dancing, worry not: Malka’s other NYC location, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is joining in on the fun with a relatively quiet special holiday menu that includes dishes like stuffed veggies, kubbe, arayes, smash kebabs and babka.

Whether in the party mood or not, it seems like Malka is the place to go when it comes to celebrating Israel’s independence this year.
