In a true marriage of greats, Breads Bakery and Martha Stewart are releasing a limited-edition “Martha’s Good Thing Babka” tomorrow.
The delicacy will look and feel like the bakery’s iconic, award-winning chocolate babka, albeit filled with poppy seeds, golden raisins and citrus zest. A culinary delightful update, if we may say so ourselves.
Sweet tooths can get their hands on the new babka at all Breads Bakery locations in New York City for $17.50 or through food delivery site Goldbelly, where a two-pack costs $69.95. Folks around the country will be able to place an order for delivery on Goldbelly as well starting next week.
The collaboration celebrates the premiere of the the fourth season of Stewart’s Roku show, Martha Cooks. Set to air on May 20, the first episode of the season will actually bring viewers behind the scenes of Breads’ recipe development. Gadi Peleg, the bakery’s owner, will appear on the show and demonstrate how to make challah, baguettes and an egg sandwich.
“Having her at the bakery and creating this babka with her has been a dream come true,” Peleg said in an official statement. “Working on a recipe with Martha Stewart is like collaborating on a song with Paul McCartney.”
Although this is the first time that the two culinary powerhouses release a joint product, Stewart’s visits to Breads throughout the years have been chronicled across her various TV shows, including the time she tried the shop’s famous strudel on camera.
Guess who is having babka for breakfast, lunch and dinner tomorrow?
