Sourdough became all the rage during the pandemic, as people stuck indoors embraced baking as both a pastime and a small act of self-sufficiency. It’s no surprise, then, that the trend has now, a few years later, creeped into the kosher world: Se’or Pizza is a new kosher eatery at 3005 Avenue K in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood that focuses on sourdough slices and pies.

The name says it all: in Hebew, the word “se’or” means fermenting agent (aka, a starter), so it’s no surprise that the pizzeria prepares its offerings using a very specific fermentation process that gives birth to crispy yet chewable crusts unlike others currently populating the kosher pizza world.

According to a post on the Great Kosher Restaurants Foodies group on Facebook, in addition to the pizza, the eatery serves calzones, garlic knots and cheese pretzels.

In terms of decor, the space is a no-frills, traditional-looking, casual pizzeria with a few tables and a long, high-top table with chairs. Clearly, at Se’or, it’s all about the food.
