NYC Restaurant Week officially kicks off on July 22 through August 18 (we know, that’s more than a week), offering would-be patrons prix-fixe dining options all around town.
In the kosher world, two eateries have opted to join in on the fun: Tsion Cafe at 763 St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem and UN Plaza Grill at 845 United Nations Plaza inside Trump World Tower in midtown East.
Here are the details about each participating restaurant:
Tsion Cafe
The Harlem eatery will actually be offering its prix-fixe Restaurant Week menu from July 22 through September 1, although Saturdays are excluded.
The $35 dinner menu includes an appetizer (crispy plantains, injera rolls with lentils or injera chips with yellow split peas), an entree (Tsion platter, a quinoa bowl with mushrooms and plantains or a jollow rice bowl with black-eyes peas, beets and plantains) and a dessert (malawach or halva).
UN Plaza Grill
The Manhattan restaurant will also be offering its Restaurant Week menu from July 22 through September 1, excluding Fridays and Saturdays (when the eatery is actually closed).
At $70 per person, the prix-fixe option includes three separate courses from this menu.
Among the exciting choices for apps is a dish of chicken skewers and the UN Plaza roll (salmon and avocado topped with spicy tuna). Entree-wise, you’ll have to pick between a lamb burger, chicken marsala, pan roasted salmon and a penne Bolognese with seasoned ground beef. Although you might want to keep things light with a seasonal fruit platter for dessert, we suggest going for the molten chocolate cake with parve vanilla ice cream.
As the French are wont to say, bon appetit!
