Knicks-themed donuts from Doughnut Plant

Can you even think of anything but the Knicks today? As our hometown team prepares to face the San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio for Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight (tip-off 8:30pm on ABC)—the first time the Knicks have reached the Finals since 1999, when they fell to these very same Spurs in five games—New Yorkers are spending this beautiful Wednesday screaming “Let’s go Knicks!” to anyone who will listen while donning jerseys and embracing all things blue and orange, the team’s official colors. With the squad chasing its first title since 1973, the city is buzzing.

Of course, our thoughts turn to food (sweets, to be precise) and we’re lucky enough to have a few kosher treats honoring the matchup that we can devour while catching the game or getting ready for a viewing party.

First up is Doughnut Plant‘s new blue and orange cake doughnut, a play on their classic black and white cake doughnut (itself a riff on the iconic New York black and white cookie), transformed for the duration of the NBA Finals, the only stretch it’ll be available. Bite into wild blueberry cake dough on one side and organic orange cake dough on the other, finished with matching frosting throughout. As with all Doughnut Plant treats, these are made fresh daily in New York City using real ingredients, no preservatives or artificial flavorings. They’ll run you $5.25 a piece.

Baked by Melissa kosher Knicks-themed mini cupcakes

Iconic mini-cupcake empire Baked by Melissa has also joined in on the fun with its own themed New York Forever cupcakes. The limited-edition sweets feature a blue and orange tie-dye vanilla cake with vanilla icing and blue and orange sprinkles on top. You can order 25 cupcakes for $39, 50 for $70 or 100 for $135, which would be a nice watch-party touch, online or across the brand’s NYC stores.

Remember: it has been 27 years since we’ve been in this exact position, so you’ve earned a sweet little indulgence to go with the sports-induced nail-biting. Grab a doughnut, a cupcake or both and settle in. Once again, let’s go Knicks!
