Nuremberg

This Sunday, April 19, The 8 Project Exhibit, featuring works by artists directly affected by the war in Israel, will be the site of a special Yom Ha’Shoah event dedicated to Holocaust remembrance through contemporary film.

The program kicks off at 4pm with a curated showcase of trailers for five different films about the Holocaust: Bau Artist at War, the 2024 biographical drama starring Emile Hirsch as Holocaust survivor Joseph Bau, an imprisoned artist who forged identity papers to help others escape; Disaster is My Muse, about the life and career of cartoonist Art Spiegelman, the author of the Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novel MAUS; Passing the Torch, focusing on artist Tomer Peretz, also the founder of The 8 Project, and Holocaust survivor and artist Gabriella Karin; and Nuremberg, the 2025 film about the Nuremberg trials starring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon and Colin Hanks.

Following each trailer screening, audiences will take part in live Q&A conversations with filmmakers and creatives involved in the projects, including Bradley J. Fischer, Philip Dolin and actress Inbar Lavi, among others.

Although the program is deeply meaningful in and of itself, it all feels even more resonant given the organization behind it: The 8 Project, described by its organizers as a “creative healing initiative that empowers survivors and Jewish artists to share their stories through art.”

Given security concerns, the exact address will be shared only with ticket holders. Tickets for the program are currently on sale for $62 right here.
