These colorful kosher babkas are available at Bryant Park’s super-fun Winter Village

Every year, over 200 vendors set up shop inside Bryant Park as part of the Winter Village extravaganza that runs through the end of the season.

Although non-culinary-related activities are certainly worth the trip to the midtown park (Channukah gift options run aplenty there), this year in particular kosher foodies will have the chance to delight in a rainbow of burekas and babkas served at kosher-certified bakery Babka Bailout’s stand on the southern-west corner of Bryant Park near Sixth Avenue and West 40th Street.

Also operating an outpost at the Union Square Holiday Market, the New Jersey-based business serves a vast variety of menu options: from babka mini loaves that come in nearly 15 different flavors (standouts include ube nutella Oreo, sugar sesame, mozzarella, butternut squash and goat cheese and sweet cheese blueberry) to burekas boxes served with a tomato dip, tahini, schug and pickles. The burekas can be filled with cheese, spinach and cheese or potato.

Exclusive to the Bryant Park location is the babka pop, a warm tint babka on a stick dipped in white or milk chocolate with a choice of topping. Think of it as a very delicious pick-me-up while holiday shopping at the unique vendor stands.

A true pandemic-era business, owner Michal Prevor founded Babka Bailout as a way to help her then-housekeeper, Carmen.

“It started when I learned that my housekeeper lost all of her jobs,” Prevor said to Pix11 in 2022. “We kept her on and, the next morning, I woke up and I said to my husband Yyou’re going to teach me how to make those amazing babkas of yours and we’re going to donate the proceeds to Carmen.'”

Carmen is now a part of the business itself.
