By the Way Bakery cookies

New York waited 53 years to see the Knicks win the NBA Finals, so you better believe the city is celebrating any way it can.

On Thursday, a special ticker-tape parade will take over the Canyon of Heroes, but businesses all over town have also announced deals to honor the champions and the local kosher food world is getting in on the fun, too.

Gluten-free, dairy-free and parve favorite By the Way Bakery might be offering one of the sweetest promotions of all: free cookies on parade day.

It doesn’t get much easier than this: all day Thursday, walk into any of the bakery’s four locations wearing Knicks apparel and you’ll walk out with a free cookie. A jersey, a hat, a faded tee, a hoodie or even the foam finger you’ve been sleeping with… it all counts.

Half the fun of a deal like this is imagining the lengths New Yorkers will go to cash in. Expect to spot somebody’s grandfather decked out in head-to-toe Knicks gear and a toddler in a tiny Brunson jersey collecting a cookie for mom. This is New York, after all, where we commit, especially when a free baked good is involved.

A few things to keep in mind: no purchase is necessary and the offer is limited to one cookie per person while supplies last, which means you’ll probably want to get there early.

There are two participating By the Way Bakery locations in New York City: one on the Upper West Side at 2442 Broadway near West 90th Street and another on the Upper East Side at 1236 Lexington Avenue near East 84th Street. The Greenwich, Connecticut, and Westchester locations are also participating in the promotion.

Although neither of the New York City bakeries is located along the parade route, we’d encourage you to try to do both: grab a free cookie and take part in the celebration. A Knicks championship parade is truly a once-in-a-generation New York experience and with Jalen Brunson and this talented core leading the way, fans are certainly hoping it won’t take another 53 years for the next one.
