Chef Guy Kairi, the executive chef behind the upscale Upper East Side restaurant Rothschild TLV, is expanding his footprint in the neighborhood.

Operating out of the Rothschild Kitchen, Kairi has just launched two new delivery- and pick-up-only concepts: Kairi Sushi and Shmash NYC. Although all three operate from the same kitchen, they function as separate businesses, each with its own distinct menu and identity. Both new spots deliver throughout New York City via Uber Eats and DoorDash, as reported by Instagram account @kosherjunkie.

Those craving both classic and more creative takes on sushi rolls will find plenty to like at Kairi Sushi, which is under OU supervision. The menu features traditional options—think hamachi, salmon and bluefin tuna rolls ($25 for two)—alongside more inventive creations, like a toro bluefin tuna roll with spicy sesame sauce, cucumber, fresh wasabi and sweet chili soy ($20), or a six-piece nigiri omakase for $26.

Rice bowls are also available, including a $40 ribeye option and a $20 chicken katsu bowl.

There’s more: sandwiches (chicken katsu, grilled chicken breast and ribeye katsu) plus a range of sides, from soba noodle salad in goma sauce to chicken mushroom miso soup with scallions and soba.

On the other hand, Shmash NYC, also under OU supervision, focuses on (duh!) smash burgers. There’s the classic smash, made with a beef patty, vegan cheddar and the house special shmear, and the West Coast, which ups the ante with a second beef patty plus lamb bacon, avocado and jalapeño.

Not in the mood for a burger? Two schnitzel sandwiches are listed on the menu: a classic version for $16 and a ribeye schnitzel sandwich with tomatoes, pickles and Korean spicy shmear for $26.

Steaks, salads and sides—like mashed potatoes, breaded chicken bites and a heirloom tomato salad—round out the roster of offerings. And as interesting as the food is, we’d be remiss not to mention the artisanal milkshakes, made with dairy-free ice cream and currently available in four flavors: dark chocolate, pistachio, cherry and vanilla bean.

In a single day, Kairi has effectively added two new solid kosher food options to the area—and we’re absolutely here for it.
