You can snag this decadent Dubai chocolate log in Brooklyn right now

Dubai chocolate bars are all the rage, and for good reason: the popular dessert, which originated at the Dubai confectionery FIX Dessert Chocolatier, is tasty, unique, and happens to be incredibly photogenic—key factors behind its virality on social media and beyond.

Since first arriving on this side of the Atlantic, the treat has taken on many different forms—both kosher and not—but none are quite as decadent and culinarily thrilling as the 9-inch Dubai chocolate log produced and sold at Urban Pops, a Brooklyn-based business offering frozen desserts like pops and gelato, along with more creative concoctions.

“We first turned the chocolate bar into a pop during the summer, and there was no keeping it in stock,” co-owner Sophia Cohen tells Pretty Kosher. “People were walking in, and our employees immediately knew what they wanted. I knew right away I wanted to make it into a log because we sell logs, and nobody else does them—at least not the way we do.”

Given the intense labor involved in producing each treat, the price of $120 makes sense.

“It takes a long time to make each log,” Cohen reveals. “We have to process the paste, which we order but also have to manipulate for it to work. We make the filling, churn it, wait for it to set, and then dip it in chocolate. It’s time-consuming.”

The results, however, are worth it: the chocolate log, drenched in pistachio cream, is “gorgeous,” according to Cohen. She even refers to it as a “precious centerpiece”—which makes sense, given that orders soared during the Jewish holiday period, when people were buying it for Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot, making it an ideal dessert for gatherings.

“When you slice into it and hear the sound of the chocolate and the filling, it’s incredible!” Cohen says. “It’s an expensive item, and I guess the more expensive it is, the more desirable it becomes.”

As with all of Urban Pops’ creations, the Dubai chocolate log is available for pick-up at the company’s shop in Brooklyn at 518 Kings Highway or for delivery to different parts of the state. For more details on delivery options, check out the business’ website.

As popular and worth-the-splurge as the Dubai chocolate log is, though, Cohen’s true gastronomic allegiance lies with her baklava pops.

“They’re probably our most creative flavor to date,” she says. “It’s part of my culture, after all, since we’re Syrian.” Who says you have to limit yourself to just one dessert, anyway?
