Finally, a new kosher option in the Flatiron District that is totally worth knowing about if you work or are just spending the day in the area.
Something Green, a Brooklyn-based healthy fast-food concept, opened its Flatiron location at 41 West 23rd Street near Fifth Avenue in late 2025 and has since picked up a kosher certification— partial, but meaningful. According to YeahThatsKosher, who first reported the news, the certification under Rabbi Mehlman of National Kosher Supervision (NKS) applies to beverages and pre-made grab-and-go items only. Anything built fresh to order at the counter falls outside the hashgacha.

That said, the certified selection isn’t slim. The grab-and-go case is stocked daily with poke bowls, salmon wraps, noodle dishes and salads. So we’re talking about real food made daily, not just packaged snacks.
The Flatiron is packed with lunch spots, but certified kosher has always been scarce on that stretch of 23rd Street. For observant diners working in the neighborhood, the options have historically meant either going out of your way or compromising. This new addition doesn’t fix everything, but it’s a legitimate game changer, especially since it closed on Saturdays for Shabbat.
If you want a full sit-down meal in the area, there are a few solid spots within reach: Sentir (37 West 19th Street) is a fully kosher-certified vegan Mexican restaurant—think tacos, ceviches and agave cocktails, all under certification—and Ama La Vita (121 West 19th Street) is a delightful kosher pizzeria and café.
Something Green isn’t trying to be a destination restaurant. It’s a fast, certified weekday lunch in a neighborhood that needed more of exactly that—and we’re absolutely here for it.
