Soda Club, the kosher vegan restaurant and wine bar in the East Village, is hosting a pasta-making class on Sunday, May 17, and there are only 10 seats available.

The class is led by Katie Corkum, the eatery’s general manager, and it’s less a cooking lesson and more an afternoon of getting your hands wonderfully floury. The focus is on fundamentals: mixing and rolling dough, then shaping three distinct pasta forms from scratch. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has watched one too many Italian cooking videos without ever actually attempting fresh pasta, this is the kind of hands-on experience that actually translates into skills you’ll use at home.

Things kick off with a warm welcome of arancini and a glass of bubbles, because of course they do—this is Soda Club, after all. Once you’ve gotten your bearings (and your snacks), you’ll roll up your sleeves and get to work. By the end of the session, you’ll have made three pasta shapes, picked up plenty of tips along the way and, perhaps most importantly, you’ll sit down to a relaxed dinner featuring everything you just created.

For the kosher community, Soda Club is something of a gem. The fully vegan, Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognized restaurant earned its Lighthouse Kosher certification along with four of its Overthrow Hospitality siblings in the East Village. The result is a certified kosher dining experience that feels nothing like the kosher dining experiences of decades past: moody lighting, natural wines and fresh pasta that holds its own against any non-kosher competition in the city.

The pasta-making class—which costs $180 per ticket plus tax (gratuity is included)—includes the hands-on session, arancini and bubbles on arrival and a sit-down dinner of your handmade pasta. All materials and ingredients are provided. The event kicks off at 2pm and, by 5pm, expect to sit down to enjoy the literal fruits of your labor.

With only 10 seats and the one-off nature of the event, this one will fill fast, so go ahead and make your reservation on Resy right now.
